The Actualising Woman
The Actualising Woman is an empowering space for late-diagnosed autistic (ASD) + ADHD women to navigate unmasking, rebuild identity, and learn how to set healthy boundaries, and develop self-acceptance and self-advocacy, through guidance, validation and encouragement 🌱
As a counselling psychotherapist, diagnosed at 58 with AuDHD, I share a raw, honest account of my own unmasking, autistic burnout and breakdown, and the subsequent rebuilding of my identity, while planning a neurodivergent - friendly life abroad. (France or Italy, I haven't decided yet!)
I talk about how I'm attempting to find the right environment in which I can thrive and reach my full potential, and for once, after decades of highly masking (to my detriment) learn to accept myself for who I am as a congruent, neurodivergent, UNMASKED woman 🌸🌱
I am inspired by Carl Rogers' Theory of Actualisation (the king of person-centred therapy) and also his daughter Natalie Rogers; herself a therapist, who wrote a fantastic book about her journey through the later stages of her life after HER own life changing event.
This channel blends lived experience with practical advice, validation, evidence-informed insights, actionable tools, and plenty of humour 😝🌱
